CURRENT STATUS OF THE COLLECTION

SAFFRON and CROCUS SPP.

GERMPLASM COLLECTION

At present the germplasm collection, consist of 443 accessions representing 54 different Crocus taxa (including saffron crocus) and is expected to increase in more than of 500 accessions by the end of CROCUSBANK action. The preserved genetic material of saffron currently consist of 197 accessions from 15 countrieS.

The Crocus spp. collection comprises, currently preserved, 246 accessions: 142 from the wild (representing 12 countries of natural distribution of the genus), 24 from donations of public and private institutions and 80 from commercial nurseries

OUR PARTNERS

The Consortium is composed by 14 partners from 11 European and associated countries and 2 partners from third countries where rich resources of saffron and Crocus relatives are found.
